FAQ
To guarentee absolute freshness, all of our products are freshly roasted to order. We do not stock pre-roasted beans to speed up delivery.
Generally orders are roasted, packed, and shipped within 3-5 business.
Freshly ground coffee is ground from the beans right before brewing, ensuring the freshest taste and preserving the bean's natural oils and flavors. Pre-ground coffee, while convenient, may lose some of its freshness and nuanced flavor over time.
To preserve freshness, store your coffee in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Avoid refrigeration, as this can introduce moisture to the coffee.
For the best flavor, we recommend using your freshly roasted coffee within 1-2 weeks. The fresher, the better!
All of our coffees are hand roasted in small batches to maximise freshness and consistency.
We start off with a small handful of green, unroasted beans placed in our Ikawa Pro Sample Roasters to create the coffee profile. Once we find the best roast level for that batch of green beans, we transfer the profile to our 10kg drum roasters.
Freshly roasted coffee has not had as much time to oxidize, which means it retains more of its initial flavors and aromatic compounds, providing a richer and more flavorful cup.
The caffeine content primarily depends on the type of coffee bean, not the freshness of the roast or the grind. However, a fresher grind might provide a more robust flavor profile, making the coffee seem more potent.
Light roasts tend to be more acidic and can reveal more of the coffee bean's natural flavors and origin characteristics. Medium roasts offer a balance between acidity and roasted flavor, while dark roasts have a more robust, toasted flavor.
